MOT Testing in Didcot, Wallingford and Oxfordshire
At Chequers Garage Ltd, we have a loyal customer base consisting of private motorists and trade clients from the Didcot, Wallingford and Oxfordshire areas. While many of these customers use us for car repairs and car servicing, others rely on us heavily for their MOT testing requirements. Like all reputable MOT garages, we have approval from the DVSA.
We think that MOT testing is one of the most important garage services of all. In addition to checking important safety and roadworthiness elements, annual inspections also record emissions on vehicles. This helps in promoting a cleaner environment, particularly for rural areas such as Didcot, Wallingford and other picturesque parts of the county like Cholsey and Harwell.
Our MOT garage also helps to keep motorists driving legally. If your car has been used on UK roads for three years or more, you have a mandatory obligation to present if for MOT testing when the current certificate expires. If you don’t, and if you happen to be stopped by the police without a valid certificate, you could be fined as much as £1,000.

Elements of MOT Testing
An approved DVSA MOT garage must have dedicated inspection bays, suitable equipment and an authorised examiner. It must also have a manager conversant with managing MOT testing, and an inspector in the categories for which MOT testing is performed. Every Didcot, Wallingford and Oxfordshire MOT garage must also have an internet connection.
This allows the garage to connect to a central database which stores MOT testing records. In addition to clarifying your car has a valid MOT certificate, the database also allows us to contact existing customers when their cars are due for MOT testing in the future. At Chequers Garage, we provide you with a full, customer-focused inspection service.
Elements of Class IV MOT testing for cars and LCVs include:
VIN Numbers • Registration Plates • Lights • Steering • Suspension • Wiper Blades • Fluid Levels • Windscreen • Horn • Seats and Seatbelts • Emissions • Bodywork • Doors • Brakes • Mirrors • Wheels and Tyres
Sometimes, we may make advisories during an MOT test which indicate that some parts of your vehicle are currently in an acceptable condition but which require your attention as soon as possible. It is still possible to pass all MOT testing elements even with advisories.
If your car or LCV fails one or more of the elements listed in our guidelines, we have to fail the vehicle but this should not be a major concern for our Didcot, Wallingford and Oxfordshire customers. Because our MOT garage also performs car repairs, we can undertake the required work with your approval and provide you with a free re-test.
Please be advised that a valid MOT testing certificate indicates that your vehicle is safe and roadworthy at the time of the inspection. As the vehicle owner, you have an obligation to keep everything in an acceptable condition once you drive away from our premises.
